Your Opportunity
At Simplotel, you will understand our customers’ unique business needs and develop features that help them grow their businesses. You will then design, implement, and maintain these features. Examples of key functionality include booking and search engines, template engines, rules engines, user management, and more. You will also leverage AI-based code generation and design tools to develop and deliver product features rapidly. We are building a global product from India, and you can be part of this opportunity!
Position: Senior Software Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable full-stack services.
Create clean APIs with solid test coverage and enforce and elevate code quality, resiliency, and engineering standards across the engineering team.
Prototype and deploy AI-powered features, including LLMs, RAG over hotel and content data, agentic automations, and intelligent assistants, to production.
Define prompts, guardrails, and evaluation criteria for AI systems.
Measure and optimise the quality, latency, and cost of AI features in production.
Integrate AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and Copilot into daily workflows to increase developer and team productivity.
Own features end-to-end, from definition and prioritisation based on key business goals through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems such as payment gateways, channel managers, and AI/LLM providers.
Own production services through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, debugging, and incident response.
Skills Required:
5+ years of software engineering experience.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deadlines effectively, and drive continuous improvements.
Full-stack proficiency covering UI, API, and storage layers.
Experience designing clean RESTful JSON APIs with defined SLAs.
Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem.
Strong understanding of core data structures, algorithms, and database principles.
Practical experience building with GenAI/LLMs, including model APIs, prompt design, RAG, embeddings, vector stores, and agent frameworks.
Proficiency in using AI coding assistants such as Claude and Codex to accelerate development, with the judgement to evaluate, verify, and reject AI-generated code when necessary.
Strong backend engineering and debugging skills, with experience designing and troubleshooting features in distributed systems and a solid understanding of web technologies.
Working proficiency with Linux/Ubuntu, Git, and foundational AWS services.
Good to Have:
Experience migrating services from Python to Java or working with polyglot backends.
Exposure to messaging systems.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
Prior experience in travel, hospitality, or high-traffic e-commerce.
